Passport Photo Service - Questions and Answers

How much do Passport photos cost?

Our Passport photo service is $30 for mobile service (includes 2 copies of the photo). - or $20 at my place of business. A white backdrop/background, along with printing your photo immediately. Additional photos are $5 (for 2 photos).

Do I need an appointment to take a Passport photo?

Yes.  I am a mobile photographer, so an appointment would be necessary for mobile photography. Immediate appointments are available.

How long does it take to receive my Passport photo?

You will receive your printed Passport photo within minutes of having your photo taken.  As a mobile photographer, I will have equipment with me to meet all passport photo requirements, and to be able to print as soon as the photo is taken.

What to wear for Passport photos:

Wear clothing you would normally wear daily. You can wear jewelry and do not need to remove facial piercings.

What NOT to wear for Passport photos

  • Uniforms, clothing that looks like a uniform, or camouflage patterns

  • Hats or head coverings are only allowed for religious or medical purposes

  • Glasses and sunglasses are not allowed in Passport photos

  • Headphones

  • Masks 

Can I wear a uniform or camouflage in my Passport photo?

No. Both adults and children cannot wear uniforms, clothing that looks like a uniform, or camouflage attire in Passport photos. If you plan to take a Passport photo after working in a uniform, it is recommended to change into an unlettered shirt before your photo

Can I wear eyeglasses in my Passport photo?

Eyeglasses are not allowed in Passport photos. If you cannot remove your glasses for medical reasons, you must submit a signed statement from your doctor with your Passport application.

Can I smile in a Passport photo?

The U.S State Department specifies photos must have a neutral facial expression with both eyes open and mouth closed.

Can I wear a head covering in a Passport photo?

You may only wear a head covering if you submit a signed statement that verifies that the hat or head covering is part of recognized, traditional religious attire that is required to be worn in public or a signed doctor's statement verifying the item is used daily for medical purposes. It is recommended to keep hair and face coverings out of your face to ensure facial recognition systems can work properly. Does Renegader Photography take children's & baby Passport photos?

Yes, Renegader Photography takes Passport photos for all ages including babies, infants, and children.

Can my child's eyes be closed in a Passport photo?

Passport photos are accepted if an infant's eyes are not open or entirely open. Any children older than infants must have their eyes open.

Can I get my Passport or turn in my Passport application with Renegader Photography?

Renegader Photography is not an acceptance facility for Passport applications and does not issue passports. Click here for more information about Passport applications and renewals.

 What do I need in order to have my Passport photo taken?

You do not need to bring anything with you when you to have your photo taken.

What is the correct size and dimensions of a U.S. Passport photo?

The correct photo measurement is 2 x 2 inches (51 x 51 mm) in size. The subject’s head should be between 1 inch and 1 3/8 inches (between 25 and 35 mm) from the bottom of the chin to the top of the head.

Can I order my Passport photo online?

Unfortunately, you are not able to order your Passport photo online.  Once your photo has been taken and stored, you may order copies by contacting us.  There is a $5 charge for two photos.  We store photos for up to two years.  Payments are accepted online and you will receive an email with an invoice and instructions on how to pay online through Square Point of Sale system. 

Are Passport photos from Renegader Photography government compliant?

Yes. We observe the requirements mandated by Department of State.

What if my photo fails government compliance?

If your photo fails government compliance, return it for a full refund or contact us to re-take the photo at no-charge to you.

How to take a Passport photo

As a mobile photographer, I will set up a white backdrop, and then take your picture.  The photo will be immediately printed and verified that it meets all requirements.  There is no additional charge if your picture needs to be taken again to meet all requirements.

How to staple a Passport photo

Passport photo applications have a spot to staple your photo, staple each side of the print vertically with two staples as close to the outer edges as possible.

What are the correct size and dimensions of a U.S. Visa photo?

Most embassies require a photo measurement of 2 x 2 inches (51 x 51 mm) in size. The subject’s head should be between 1 inch and 1 3/8 inches (between 25 and 35 mm) from the bottom of the chin to the top of the head. Be certain to confirm the visa photo guidelines for the country you plan to visit before submitting final documentation.

Can I use my Passport photo for my Visa?

Yes, your Visa and Passport photos can be identical.

What is the difference between a Visa and a Passport?

A Passport is a travel document issued by the government of a traveler's native or adopted country and verifies proof of citizenship. A Visa is a temporary document issued by the government of the country you are visiting which allows you to be in their country for a certain period of time.
